Family Update

So July has been a very busy month for us. At the end of June we left for our trip to Maine for two weeks. Daisy was a wonderful traveller, all 1400 miles in the car! We had a great time visiting with Matt's family even though the weather didn't cooperate. My parents came up for about 5 days. It was their first trip to Maine and there were certain places we wanted to take them to get a taste of Maine. We took them to Bar Harbor which is a wonderful town on the coast. We rode through the Acadia National Park and did a little shopping and eating in town. We also took them to Freeport where L.L. Bean is located. It is the best place to shop in Maine. They have tons of outlet stores and it has such cute shops. To celebrate the 4th of July we went to Gene's "camp" on the lake, a cousin of Matt's dad. We took a boat ride around the lake, had hamburgers and hot dogs and watched the fireworks over the lake. Daisy seemed to really enjoy the fireworks, though she would not get on the boat. She didn't like it very well.

Most of the trip consisted of us just hanging around the house. With me being pregnant, I was taking naps with Daisy in the afternoons. I was able to get in the hottub this time, thanks to my wonderful father-in-law. He lowered the temp so I could get in and enjoy the warm water in the cool evenings of Maine. We had a bbq one evening with lots of family over and lots of food. JoAnna makes the best ribs! We were very greatful to get to make the trip, since originally we had thought that Matt might be deployed before the trip. Since being back home, I've working on getting Daisy and the new baby's rooms situated. That's something else..the Monday after getting home we had an ultrasound to tell us the sex of the baby...you guessed it, ANOTHER GIRL!! I wanted to paint the girls' rooms...Daisys' purple and the new babys' brown. Now I just have to get Daisy's furniture to finish them off. We are so super excited about having another girl! I think Daisy is going to be a big help when she comes along. Right now I am taking advantage of my last few weeks of freedom before school starts back at the end of August. This semester is coming to keep me very busy, taking care of Daisy, being pregnant, graduating in December and Matt deploying. I am taking the PRAXIS II tomorrow and hope it goes well. Anyways, until next time ...

Matt graduates from WLC!!

We are so excited to finally have Matt home for a while! He was in the course from June 5 to June 18. He was in classes most of the time and was able to come home to us at night. From June 12 until June 16 Matt was in field doing training exercises and had to stay on post. It was a very long weekend for us. Matt graduated on Friday, June 19. It was a very hot day, so thank goodness the ceremony didn't last long. We are so very proud of Matt for completing this course!! To celebrate his graduation we went out for lunch to Olive Garden.

While Matt was in the field, Rosanne made a trip up to Nashville to stay with a girlfriend. So on Tuesday we went down to Nashville and spent some time with her at the zoo. It was so nice to see my little sister! Daisy enjoyed seeing all the animals at the zoo. She was able to pet some goats and get up close with some birds. We also went to Opry Mills and did a little shopping. On our way there we ran into some bad weather....tornado warnings, high winds, and lots of rain. We made it just fine and Daisy slept through the whole thing. Thank you Rosie for coming to spend some time with us. We miss you!

A little update

So we have had quite a few visitors in the past week. Beth visited for a weekend. Daisy fell in love with her! They were new best friends. AND Daisy pooped on the potty that weekend!! YEAH! We haven't officially started potty training yet, but now that she's done it once hopefully getting her started won't be so hard. JoAnna and Grammy just left Sunday morning. It was really nice to have them here. They babysat Daisy on Thursday night so Matt and I could go to the Regimental Nightstalker formal. We had a great time, although I was pretty tired by the end of the night. We had pictures taken, had a wonderful dinner, and got to hang out with some friends. Also, if you have ever seen Forest Gump or watch CSI:NY then you know Gary Sinise. Well, his band the Lt. Dan Band performed at our formal. When I first saw him before the night even began I couldn't believe my eyes. We had just watched CSI:NY a couple of days before and then there he was standing about 15 feet away from me. We weren't able to get a picture with him or meet him, but he is a pretty awesome guy. A huge supporter of the troops!!! His band was pretty cool as well! While JoAnna and Grammy were here we did some grocery shopping, had a very successful yard sale and went out to eat at Hananoki's. It was a great weekend and we can't wait to get up to Maine in July!

Today is our first official doctor appointment on post. Hopefully we get to hear the heartbeat and find out somemore about this baby. I have been very uncomfortable with this baby from all day nausea to migraines. Not something I was looking forward to. Hoping the doctor can give me something to help me feel better. I can't imagine riding in a car all the way to Maine feeling this way.
Daisy is doing wonderfully. Growing everyday. Yesterday she said "hot pocket" and it was the cutest thing ever. She talks all the time and we just recently got her a little fold-out couch and she lives on it. She does such a good job of keeping herself busy when mommy isn't feeling well. Such a mommy's little helper! Hopefully that continues when the baby gets here.

So right now we are getting geared up for VBS next week. Liz Harrison and I are teaching the 2s again, which Daisy will be in. We have so much stuff to do, but I am looking forward to it! Matt will be going to WLC next week for 14 days and getting back just in time for Father's Day! How convenient! :) Until next time....

Can't believe it's May!!

So it's been 2 months since I last wrote. We have been very busy! I have been trying to finish up school and Matt was getting back into the groove of things. Plans were changed and made and here we are in May!! Well since last time, we made a trip to Wrens to celebrate the resurrection of our Christ with all the family. It was a great trip getting to spend time with my sisters, nieces and parents and other family. Daisy completed 4 egg hunts during this Easter season so next year she'll be a pro. The last week of April I did one week of teaching at Kenwood Elementary school here in Clarksville, which was a very stressful week. On April 23 we got some wonderful news....we found out we are expecting another little Kent baby!! We are so excited to see how Daisy is going to handle this. I think she'll love being a big sister. She loves taking care of her baby dolls and being a little Mommy to them all. That same weekend a guy Matt worked with passed away after a marathon in Nashville. He went up to Montana with 26 other soldiers this past weekend to give him a military service. Matt was a part of the 21 gun salute. It was a reality check on how short life can be. Yesterday was the memorial service here on the compound. his family was here and they were very grateful at how well the guys represented their unit and were grateful for the time they had spent with them in Montana.
So needless to say we have been a busy little family! We are looking forward to the summer when we get to spend lots of time with family and friends. Beth Corey is coming to visit in 2 weeks, then JoAnna and Grammy Smith are coming visit that next week, and then my parents are visiting to babysit for our 4th anniversary. Then in July we will be traveling by car up to Maine with my parents!! Between all the traveling hopefully I can est some. This pregnancy seems to be getting the best of me. Today is my last final and I have my first doctors appointment tomorrow. YIPPEE!!! Will post pictures soon!!

Matt's return from deployment!!!

So Matt made it home on Tuesday night!!! Daisy and I went and picked him up from the airport in Nashville. It was so exciting! When we saw Matt walking out of the airport, Daisy started smiling and jumping around in my arms! She knew who he was as soon as she saw him. I really wish I could've videotaped it. Well we made it home safe and sound and now are trying to get into a routine that includes Matt now. He went to her daycare yesterday to meet her teachers and see what it was all about. She just this week moved up to the 2 year old room. She really likes it. There is a lot more for her to do and more challenges for her little mind! Here are some pictures from the past couple of days. We are looking forward to next week when I am on Spring Break (FINALLY) and JoAnna and Grammy Smith are coming to visit! Until then.....

The past couple of months

Well, I can't believe it's March already. That means Matt will be home soon!! YAHOO!!! But I guess I should catch you up on what we've been doing.

In January, Daddy cam eup to visit right as I was starting school. He watched Daisy on the days I had class. They had a ball.

In February, I got the sewing bug and decided to make Daisy a dress for the summer. I had a lot of fun making it and hope it fits her this summer. We also had Valentine's Day which was fun. I got a dozen roses from Matt, they were beautiful and Daisy got a package from Grammy and Grampa Kent. We also had a visit from Mama and Daddy and the Godowns girls. Daisy also had her first valentine's party at the village (her child care center).

Now we are just waiting for Matt to get home. We baked some cupcakes today and are going to put up his welcome sign tomorrow.

Christmas 2008

So, I'm a little behind in getting my Christmas blog up, but we've been really busy. In December, we went to the ICE:GRINCH at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville. It was more fun for Matt and I than Daisy. It was REALLY cold inside!!! It was amazing how detailed the scultures were. As it was getting closer to Christmas, we were getting prepared for our trip to Michigan. Then Matt was told that he would be leaving a few days after Christmas, so he wouldn't be making the trip up to Michigan. Mama and Daddy came and picked up Daisy and I and we went up until Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve we met Matt in Indianapolis to go back home. We had a nice trip though. We got to see and play in lots of snow. We were able to spend time with Nana and Papa and the Andersons. On Christmas morning, back in Clarksville, we got up and sang Happy Birthday to Jesus and had some cake. Then we went to opening presents. Daisy did a pretty good job of opening her presents with a little help from Daddy. Christmas night we had some friends (the Cabebe's, the Johnston's, and Timmy) come over for a shrimp boil and lots of other goodies. It was fun just hanging out and spending time with friends. A few days later Matt had to leave and we said our good-byes. We miss him everyday and can't wait for him to get back home!!
