Christmas 2008

So, I'm a little behind in getting my Christmas blog up, but we've been really busy. In December, we went to the ICE:GRINCH at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville. It was more fun for Matt and I than Daisy. It was REALLY cold inside!!! It was amazing how detailed the scultures were. As it was getting closer to Christmas, we were getting prepared for our trip to Michigan. Then Matt was told that he would be leaving a few days after Christmas, so he wouldn't be making the trip up to Michigan. Mama and Daddy came and picked up Daisy and I and we went up until Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve we met Matt in Indianapolis to go back home. We had a nice trip though. We got to see and play in lots of snow. We were able to spend time with Nana and Papa and the Andersons. On Christmas morning, back in Clarksville, we got up and sang Happy Birthday to Jesus and had some cake. Then we went to opening presents. Daisy did a pretty good job of opening her presents with a little help from Daddy. Christmas night we had some friends (the Cabebe's, the Johnston's, and Timmy) come over for a shrimp boil and lots of other goodies. It was fun just hanging out and spending time with friends. A few days later Matt had to leave and we said our good-byes. We miss him everyday and can't wait for him to get back home!!

Getting ready for Christmas!

I forgot to add in that we went to the Opryland Hotel the weekend before Thanksgiving for a marriage retreat with Matt's unit. It was a wonderful weekend! Mama and Daddy came up for the weekend to watch Daisy. They had a ball. When we got back we started decorating for Christmas. Daisy was trying to be very helpful! She's getting so big! We went to her 15 month check-up yesterday and she is now 18 lbs and 29.5 inches tall. She's still a peanut, but growing at her own pace.

Thanksgiving in Maine

Sorry, I'm just getting around to letting you know about our Thanksgiving, but it's been very busy since we got home. I'm now done with school, for the semester!! Yeah! So, our Thanksgiving was very fun and eventful! We took Daisy up to Maine to see the family. Our trip up there went well, no delayed flights or missed flights. Thanksgiving day was fun and a little relaxing. We stayed at the house while JoAnna cooked all morning, then the rest of the family came over for an early Thanksgiving dinner. Daisy was in a really good mood, even though she went to bed late the night before. On Friday, we skipped going shopping, thank goodness because Daisy had gotten up in the middle of the night with a fever and cough. It was nice though that she slept in the bed with me. It brings back memories from when she was a newborn. Friday night, we had a 90th birthday party for Matt's Grampa. Daisy and I didn't get to stay long though because it was right during her nap time and she was pretty cranky. I hear the party went off without a hitch though! Happy 90th Grampa! On Saturday we stayed around town. That night we went to Mainely Brews and had dinner. It was Jon and Sara's last night there. On Sunday, we got packed and said our good-byes. We stayed in Portland on Sunday night because our flight was leaving at 5:40 on Monday morning. JoAnna stayed with us, but Dennis had to go back to Benton because he had to work early Monday morning. So we wake up ready to go to the airport. We get there, check in, get through security and get to the gate to find out that we had been bumped off our flight....needless to say we were furious!! The next flight they had to Nashville was Tuesday morning at the same time. Also, our luggage was already on the first flight so we had no extra clothes or anything. We went back to Benton for the afternoon because JoAnna had to work and then Tuesday night we did that same thing all over again. So we finally made it back around noon on Tuesday. Besides the traveling part, we had a wonderful time. Now we are looking forward to taking Daisy to Michigan for the first time for Christmas! And hopefully there'll be lots of snow for her to play in. Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and had your fill of turkey and dressing!!

Happy 25th Birthday Matt!

WOW! Matt is 25 today. He's getting old! This morning I got up and made cinnamon rolls for the birthday boy. I had to wake Daisy up to celebrate with us. Then he opened up his presents. From Daisy he got a book by Tim McGraw called "My Little Girl" and from me he got a Night Stalker blanket. Tonight we are going to Old Chicago for a birthday dinner of pepperoni pizza. November Already!!!

So it's November! Wow how time flies....its seems like just yesterday Daisy turned 1!! Well I guess since the last entry, we attended the Fall Festival at church. Daisy was a pumpkin, Matt was Danny from GREASE and I was Sandy from GREASE. We had fun handing out candy to all the children. It was a long couple of hours though. Last week Matt made a trip to Florida for a few days for work and I have been going to school. I guess when you're in school that's all you do. Our upcoming adventures in November are the weekend before Thanksgiving Matt and I are going to a marriage retreat in Nashville at the Opryland Hotel and Mama and Daddy are coming up to keep Daisy. That'll be our first time leaving her alone over the entire weekend. It'll be interesting!! Then for Thanksgiving we are flying to Maine for the weekend. What a busy couple of weeks we have ahead. I also had finals to be studying for..YEAH!!

FUNtastic Fall!!!

Well we have been keeping busy since Matt got home from Airborne school. We have definitely been enjoying the beautiful fall weather, on the days that its cool!! We went to a fall festival a couple of weekends ago, here in Clarksville where Daisy got to pick out her own pumpkin, decorate it and she got to ride a pony! She really liked and sat very well. Then last weekend was the BN Fall festival for Matt's shop. We had it out at Cav Country. They had face painting, a chili cook off, tic-tac-toe, a hayride, infatables, swings, a pumpkin patch, and lots more! We had a lot of fun! Daisy got to get another pumpkin and this time she really did pick it out herself. Then we (or I) decorated it with poka dots! She also got her face painted with a pumpkin, but would sit still long enough for then to finish it so she just ended up with a orange dot. :) Then that Sunday, Nana and Papa stopped by and went to church with us. We ate lunch at Cracker Barrel and then hung out for the afternoon. It was really nice for them to visit. Yesterday we went to Dunlop Park and took Christmas pictures for our Christmas card. Those pictures you'll have to wait and see when you get it! :) Thanks to a friend we were able to keep it cheap and simple. She took great photos. The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing and watching football. Score for GA Bulldogs and Notre Dame, they both played great this weekend!! Hope ya'll have a wonderful week and Happy Halloween!!!!

Matt's home from Airborne school!!!

Matt finally got home Friday night from Airborne school. It was a long three weeks, but he made it through without breaking anything!! He graduated Friday morning. My parents went to the graduation because Daisy and I couldn't go. With gas prices and driving all that way by myself was a little too much. They got pictures of his graduation and here they are....

We've been busy working and going to school and taking care of Daisy. He finally got pinned this morning during formation. I got to do it and we are so very proud of him!! He has been very busy making his way up the ladder and deserves every bit of it. He'll soon be going to WLC, Warrior Leader Course, as part of becoming a noncommissioned officer. It's here at Campbell and last 14 days, so another 2 weeks without him. This weekend, we are going to try and relax some. Tomorrow afternoon I am going to a friends house to help out with her kids (her husband is deployed and she just had a little girl on Friday). I'm staying through the night, so Matt will be a single parent for a night. We'll see how that goes!!! :) Have a wonderful weekend!!!
